Today was a really different kind of Friday for me. The plan was as soon as I was done at the shelter I had to head to WORK :-( and be there ready to go full speed at Noon.
So my time at the shelter felt a little rushed, but we easily got all the babies out. It was very sad for me today...I know I will go next week on Sunday but it doesn't keep me from being sad about my regular Friday time with these pups. The thought of not being able to go at all crushes me...really wish I had started doing this earlier.
Anyway, because I made a stop at the shelter yesterday after work to pick up my volunteer shirt. I had already had my eye on a few pups that I wanted to walk today...one was Pepsi and that's who I started
with!!!
Then I walked this sweet little black pup named Robyn she is really cute. I don't know why but I seem to be drawn to those black pups ever since I read they are hard to get adopted because they appear "not special."
Then I saw this baby that looked very similar to Pepsi, Cola and I just had to visit with her too.She was nuts I tell ya nuts! She was so hyper I can only imagine what she would have been like off leash.
Then sweet Jack, I love him. He is a bit crazy too and loves loves the pin whenever he can get in there. He would make someone a great frisbee dog! Today he got this huge stick and just wanted to carry it everywhere. When I say huge I mean 6 to 7 feet long...yeah I was a bit afraid. :-)
Then I went all the way to the back and grabbed my sweet GG. I just love her little face so much. I wanted to make sure I got to see her just in case she was adopted before I made it back.
I then grabbed Katie...she is so sweet. I have never really thought of her as a favorite, but she is so adorable. She takes you straight to a bench hops up and the minute you sit down she lays in your lap. It is so sweet. Some people came to see her today and I told them sit in a bench and immediately she was in the girl's lap...adorable. I hope she finds someone soon who will let her sit in their lap all the time!
Then I had been promising Minnie all morning I would get to her soon so I grabbed her. She is such a pretty dog. We don't really bond because all she cares about is sniffing and outside...she's not really into humans and that's okay.
Waldo was by the door and I saw him with his toy just being so sweet every time. He was so adorable with this rubber chicken that made the funniest noise. He carried it everywhere and just wanted to lay in the grass and play...so that's what we did.
Finally, I grabbed Mable she was by the checklist and was just talking up a storm so I ended my day with crazy Mable. This little leash biter did pretty good. She always is a handful at the beginning and end of our walk. But, she seems to be getting better :-)
It was only 9 dogs...I know ONLY 9...but we got everyone done and I got out of there. I like when I have plenty of time for each one and today I kind of did but it would have been even better if I hadn't HAD to leave by 11:40. Overall, I guess I can say it was a good Last Friday for awhile. As sad as I am about it I enjoyed my time today just like I always do. Thank you to all these pups because they give me such love when I am there and make me so happy. I hope they can have a happy home very soon!!!!
***The day before when I got my shirt I met this baby in the front room. I wish I had the time to walk her and get to know her better cause I sure loved loving on her on Thursday
