A different kind of Friday!

This Friday was a little different. The weather was a little iky and I was planning on having lunch with my Dad at 11:15am. Thats right in the middle of dog walking time. So instead of forgoing the whole volunteering day completely I decided to get there around 8:30 and participate in the Cleaning Kennels Job. I had never done it and been wanting to go but was nervous about knowing how to help best.

Overall it was a great experience. I learned a lot and helped the pups get in clean kennels as fast as possible. I learned a lot about how the shelter works and how the dogs are treated and how the shelter stays clean. The girl Terri who helped me learn was really nice and had patience with me which was nice. I definitely enjoy walking and playing with the pups more, but on a day like this it was really nice to be able to help out.

While I was there I did get to see and talk to some of the dogs...but not really get to love on them. But, here a few of my favs that I did see.

Romeo and Bonnie got to play in a kennel almost all morning which was good for them and made me so happy for them to get some energy out and be able to play.

I love there two dogs I think they are so great and can't believe they are still here!!!!

I also visited with Captain in the front room. He was so awesome and just had the cutest face.

I met a new girl I think her name was Lylia Ann or something like that. She was this white sheep dog looking thing. She was new and not ready for adoption yet. She was pretty skinny and had a shirt on to make her look even cuter. I hope I get to walk her soon once she is a little more healthy and ready for an adopter!

I will say it again and again I am so thankful for my experience at the shelter!!!!
