Billy and I have now had Bailey in our lives for 3 1/2 Months. Everyone was very supportive of us giving Ms. Bailey a home, but we also got many warnings on the difficulties to come. I think I mainly was worried about Bill, I was worried that his quality of life would decrease (lol yes I am crazy) but I also knew Bailey would be his playmate and BFF for life! Anyway, here are a few things I have learned over the past months, I am sure Billy would have a pretty commical list of his own if asked ;-)
I've Learned...
~Billy can survive not being an only child
~Billy sometimes wishes he still was an only child
~Bailey thinks she is an only child and that Bill is just for walking on and playing with
~You pick up more toys when there are 2 dogs
~There is no sharing of toys equally, ever!
~The word "No" is used more frequently
~Feeding two food motivated dogs is expensive and loud
~Why there are fewer pictures of the middle children in families
~Why the 2nd child's baby book never gets finished
~That leaving two dogs alone is much easier than leaving one alone all day
~That keeping one dog calm is much easier than keeping 2 calm/quiet
~That keeping 2 dogs entertained is much easier than entertaining 1 all the time!
~That walking 2 dogs is harder than walking 1
~How much I miss the one-on-one time I had with Billy
~That I don't think I ever had the chance to have one-on-one time with Bailey
~That bonding with the second dog takes alot longer & is harder, & has nothing to do with their personality
~Spoiling 2 dogs is just as easy as spoiling 1
~It is harder to treat 2 dogs as humans, unfortunately for Billy they are both becoming aware that they are in fact dogs
~The joy of watching them play together & love each other is totally worth all the extra trouble
~Finally I have learned that I have enough patience and love for two wonderful dogs!!!

Oh Beth...., I'm rolling on the floor!!! You've adjusted well to the three ring circus!!! Keeping a positive outlook with decisions we make is crucial!!! I think you've done great!! I can remember how I squirmed to your daddy trying to justify how important it was to me having "Another" litter of puppies!! Dogs (the more the merrier), enriches our lives, makes some days worth getting up for, and teaches us lessons that simply can't be measured!!! We are luckier to have them in our lives....You Go Girl!!!!
:-) I thought you might like that...and totally understand!!!
Things are going great. I keep looking at the weather site to see when a good time will be for Bailey to meet her Ms. Susan!!!!
Absolutely! I'm glad you've got it all under control...., or maybe organized chaos! Regardless...Our lives are better with "four legs and fur"! However..., ya'll haven't met "Romeo" yet..RItzies new Boyfriend....Lost Rooster from farm down the road....Who says opposites dont attract???? Come out soon!!
