St. Valentine's Day

Saint Valentine's Day is an annual holiday held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. The holiday is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentine and was established by Pope Gelasius I in AD 496. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards. The holiday first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

So I guess we all kind of knew most of that, but I thought I'd share. This year I have heard so much controversy over the holiday. I don't think it would be the end of the world if we all boycotted it next year, it is a bit over rated. Prices of flowers and chocolates go up, and reservations are impossible to find at the time you want and the place you want just because of the date...that's a little much. However, no girl can really complain when they receive those flowers from a boy they like :-)

Just another attempt to get the 3 of us in a photo together...we are still practicing!

They are my faithful sweet Valentines...I love the unconditional love of a dog...it is the best!

James did have to work all weekend, even on Sunday which he never has to do...it was a long week for him. I got these beautiful flowers as a surprise on Friday...it was perfect and they are so beautiful. He really did have an extremely long Friday and Saturday night so I wasn't sure if it was going to work out, but I took him to brunch Sunday morning before he had to be back at work...it wasn't anything fancy but it was nice.
Finally, I will say since I didn't have the opportunity to actually be with the boy on the night of the holiday...I did get the next best thing...a low key dinner with my BFF! What more could a girl ask for? Hope everyone had a good weekend regardless if it was a Valentine's Weekend or a Nation Single Awareness Weekend...either way hope it was a good one!
