My 1st Day at NHS!!!!

Friday was my first real day of volunteering at the shelter by myself. I was so pumped. I had my little fitness nano watch on to see exactly what I got accomplished in my two hours. Basically as a dog walker volunteer. You are there to help get those dogs out of their kennels...get them outside...and get them some one on one time. Some of the dogs are all about being outside and the smells...some are all about the potty time...some are all about you....and then some are a mixture. I had the best day there and met some really really awesome dogs. I felt like I got so much accomplished and I felt like I really made a difference. It was such an amazing feeling...I was totally in my element and it was great.

Here are some of the amazing dogs I got to spend time with:

Coco

Dixie Doo

Layla

Marcus

Moon Shadow

Taylor

The Pups I played with:

In 2 hours I walked 7 dogs and got over 3.5 miles in and got to love on puppies too.
Amazing first day!!!

I'm Officially A Volunteer!!!!

Sunday I completed my final orientation at The Nashville Humane Society and I am now an official Volunteer. I am so excited and can't wait to start walking some great dogs. I am so excited to meet them and love on them and give them some much deserved attention.

Morgan was the first dog I walked. She seemed to be a bit of a handful and that was exactly why I picked her. She was ready to go and she was so sweet...definitely reminded me of my Bailey girl.

Harpeth was another dog I walked. I could tell he was special. He has such a unique look to him. He was three and just as sweet as he could possibly be. So gentle spirited and just enjoyed my company...he will definitely make someone a very special companion.

I also walked Holly and Emma who are not pictured. They we of course great too. Holly is a black, wire haired mix that looks like she has an old spirit. Sweet and gentle too. Emma had some hound in her and definitely liked to sniff the ground.

My plan is to go on my day off Fridays and go for 1 to 2 hours on those days. Then as the warm months approach there can be some events that I can help with. Hopefully, I will get to meet some amazing dogs and see them get to go to their furever homes!!!!

I Think I May Have Survived!!!!

The winter months are just not my favorite. Not just the cold gets me..but the darkness! I hate not seeing the sun. The days that its actually out it basically goes away by the time I get home from work...I just hate it. I have been following the sunset time for the past fews weeks...and today we hit 5pm!!!! I am so glad...the days are finally getting longer!!!! And soon we will be getting close to Daylight Savings Time!

We're Goin On A Hike!

I love it when Fridays are nice out. It gives me a chance to get these babies out and take a good ol long walk. They love spending time outside with Mom!!! Billy likes wearing his pack. It helps with things like keys, phones, and poopoo bags...empty and full ones ;-)

Resolutions!

I know it is oh so poplar to have New Years Resolutions...and guess what...yep I got a few :-)

When I heard the % of ones that were kept for just a month it was very discouraging. I am thinking we as people need to meet in the middle and make our resolutions a little more obtainable and realistic and on the other end try a little harder!!!!

Here are a few of mine....What are yours????

Drink less soda
Drink more water
Eat more healthy
Get more exercise
Help my Pups get more exercise
Have some quality "quiet time" each day
Find a church
Begin the house hunting process before 2013
Become a volunteer at Nashville Humane Society
